Also known as “Fight Dance,” Capoeira is an Afro-Brazilian martial art created in secret by enslaved peoples during the 16th century. Disguised as a dance and performed to music, this unique and acrobatic form helps increase mobility and coordination while encouraging mindfulness, communication, and improvisation skills.

The Alloy School is made possible with support from the Arts Equity Reimagined Collective Action for Re-Imagining Vibrancy Fund grant, a funding initiative managed by New Sun Rising; the Henry C. Frick Educational Fund of the Buhl Foundation, The Grable Foundation, and the McElhattan Foundation. Kelly Strayhorn Theater is supported in part by the taxpayers of Allegheny County through a public grant from the Allegheny Regional Asset District (RAD). RAD works here.
