Dance Africa Pittsburgh returns for its fifth year on July 22 and 23 with exciting performances by renowned ensembles from Pittsburgh and beyond celebrating the music and dance of West Africa and the Caribbean.
Two days of dance and drumming workshops lead to an evening of electrifying performances. This year, Dance Africa celebrates the spirit of Senegal with renowned Senegalese guest artists Djialy Kunda, Kouyaye African Dance Company, Mame Cheikh Dieng, Idy Ciss and N’Deye Gueye. Pittsburgh’s Balafon 3 Youth Ensemble, Hill Dance Academy Theater, Artists United and the Legacy Arts Project, and Project Tambor Cimarron will have you dancing along with a variety West African and Contemporary music and dance.
A variety of dance workshops take place on Friday and Saturday at KST’s Alloy Studios, with the grand performance Saturday evening at Kelly Strayhorn Theater.
Workshops are limited to 25 attendees per class, please register in advance to reserve your spot.
