Jasmine Hearn – memory keep(h)er

KST Presents

Choreographer Jasmine Hearn’s weeklong creative residency culminates with an in-progress showing of memory keep(h)er. For her latest project, Hearn uses post-modern dance, performance art, video, and song to preserve the stories and memories of black female elders. Using stories from the older women of her village: the community that raised her—most specifically her grandmother Claudette Johnson, she generates choreography and sound. A post-show discussion follows the performance.

memory keep(h)er has received support from the Houston Arts Alliance with the award of the 2015 Individual Artist Grant.
