This is for the college dance major who sat in KST’s red theater seats for the first time a decade ago. On stage, the lights dimmed low, setting the scene for performances by choreographers Sidra Bell and Kyle Abraham. Maybe you were there. Then a student, Jasmine Hearn found their community and artistic home at KST that night.
With Your investment, Kelly Strayhorn Theater has had the pleasure of supporting Jasmine, now a Pittsburgh-based internationally touring artist performing with Solange Knowles (Beyonce’s sister!), in Times Square with Kennedy Center Honoree Bill T. Jones, and premiering their own performances right here at KST. This past year, Your support helped Jasmine with a 6-month residency at KST to develop A Patient Practice, a dance project that makes room for intergenerational conversation among Black Pittsburgh artists.
